Our last wedding of 2018 (& first wedding of 2019) could not have ended/started on a higher note! Alexa & Danny’s New Year’s Eve Georgian Terrace Wedding was absolutely PERFECT from start to finish. Dream couple? Check. Dream venue? Check. And the list goes on and on and on! The Georgian Terrace has been on my list of dream venues for quite some time (for obvious reasons). It’s history, gorgeous architecture, and stunning views from their rooftop terrace. Everything about it is very much in my wheelhouse, and to top it all off it was on New Years Eve! I couldn’t have dreamed of anything better!
Danny and Alexa have know each other since first meeting in Latin class. Through high school, college, law school & pharmacy school and now their careers, their love has grown. Now living in Washington D.C, they planned their dream wedding in Atlanta! When I first met these two for their engagement session, I could not WAIT until their wedding. The chemistry that Alexa and Danny have is so special, and you can instantly tell that they are each others safe place. It required absolutely no work on my part to photograph these two, which is every photographers dream! Everything about them is effortless, and their wedding day was no different!
I have to start by thanking the FABULOUS Amy Ackerman and her team for planning and executing their day so perfectly and making everything go off without a hitch. Hotel weddings are no joke (thank you slow elevators), but with the help of these ladies, everything went so smooth and we are so grateful! Alexa was an absolute SHOW STOPPER in her dress, and it was an extra bonus to see Megan Quintana (my wedding makeup artist) that day! Everyone looked perfect, and each and every person surrounded Alexa & Danny with the best type of love.
After a beautiful ceremony at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, all of their guests headed to the gorgeous Georgian Terrace for cocktail hour. Jim White and his team created the PERFECT, romantic, and classic design for their reception space. It was breathtaking, filled with so many unique details. Alexa, Danny and their families got a sneak peek before guests, and they were overcome with emotion! Hello, can you blame them?! My jaw dropped when I saw everything!
One of my favorite parts of their reception was when Alexa & Danny greeted their guests and Alexa shared a special family tradition. At midnight, a bag filled with grapes were passed around to every guest. You made a wish before eating each grape, and that will bring you good luck into the New Year. This is something that Alexa’s family has done her whole life, and it was so special to incorporate into their big day! Champagne was passed, and the Emerald Empire Band counted us down to the New Year! To ring in 2019, cold sparklers went off in the ballroom, and the reactions were priceless!
Mr. & Mrs. Mader, it is so clear that I could go on for pages about how deeply Alexis and I adore you and your families! From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for including us in the start of your forever. You are loved fiercely by those around you, and I am confident that you will have a marriage even more beautiful than your wedding!
CHEERS TO MR. & MRS. MADER!
AND full warning that this is the longest blog post I have EVER done, and this is me narrowing it down to my absolute favorites. But trust me, it is 100% worth it to go through every single image!!
